Quick start
- Open the dedicated Liink Server app on a Mac.
- Choose the server name and access mode, then press Start server.
- Open the free Liink client on Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android phone or Android tablet.
- Enter a display name and select the discovered server. If discovery is blocked, enter the Mac's IP address and signaling port manually.
- Use assigned channels to talk and adjust personal listen-line and master levels.
Server and client apps
Liink Server is macOS-only and cannot join another server as a client. The free Liink apps for Apple and Android are client-only and cannot host a system. This separation gives the server the hardware and incoming-network permissions it needs while keeping crew apps simple.
Audio-interface routing
Route an input to a listen line
- Open the listen line's settings on Liink Server.
- Select the Core Audio device under Input.
- Select the discrete Input channel, such as Input 1 or Input 2.
- Save and confirm that the line meter responds.
Route a talk channel to a physical output
- Open the talk channel's settings.
- Under Physical audio output, select the device and output channel.
- Set output gain and save. All authorised talkers on that channel are mixed to the selected output.
Several routes may use one interface, and Liink Server can open multiple output devices at the same time. If an interface is disconnected, Liink shows a yellow retry button instead of silently switching to another device.
Video inputs
Webcams and UVC capture interfaces appear in the listen line's Camera menu. Where a driver exposes several input sources, use Connector to select the required one.
Blackmagic DeckLink devices require the Blackmagic Desktop Video driver. Multi-input cards must be set to a profile with the required active subdevices in Desktop Video Setup. Each active subdevice then appears as an independent Liink video source. Liink uses capture input only; it does not require a DeckLink video output.
Troubleshooting
The server does not appear
Confirm that the Mac server and client are on the same Wi-Fi/LAN and that local-network permission is enabled. Guest networks and some VLANs block Bonjour. In that case, use Manual connection and enter the server Mac's IP address with port 9933 unless you changed it.
A manual or Tailscale connection has no audio
Liink uses TCP 9933 for signaling and UDP 9934 for media by default. If the signaling port changes, media always uses the next port. Make sure both are allowed by the Mac firewall and any Tailscale ACL. Enter the Mac's Tailscale 100.x address or MagicDNS name, not its LAN address, when connecting remotely.
An audio device or channel is unavailable
Connect and power the interface before starting the server. Confirm that macOS Audio MIDI Setup sees every expected input and output, then click the yellow hardware retry button in Liink Server. Liink intentionally does not fall back to the built-in microphone when a saved interface is missing.
A DeckLink source does not appear
Install or update Blackmagic Desktop Video, confirm that Desktop Video Setup sees the card, and choose a profile that exposes the required subdevices. Close any application already using the input, then retry hardware in Liink Server or restart the server session.
Audio is choppy, delayed or echoing
Prefer a wired connection for the server Mac and a production-grade access point for wireless clients. Headsets reduce acoustic feedback. Liink applies voice processing on clients, but open speakers in the same room can still create echo; use PTT where necessary.
